Girl Scout Troop 73712 (17 year old Senior scouts) of Reading, Massachusetts made their calendar debut in 2010 with the "2010 Sights of Reading Calendar". We spent a year's time photographing many locations and activities in and around our hometown of Reading. Originally, we were simply interested in earning a Photography Interest Project Patch (IPP) and understanding the intricacies of photography. As we became more interested in the sights through the lens, the project advanced and we chose to embark on earning the IPP titled "Starting Your Own Business".
All profits from that Calendar of Reading were utilized for a community service project we completed while earning our Silver Award. The Silver Award is the second highest award in Girl Scouting and can be earned by scouts in the 6th - 9th grade. For our project, we created education coloring books to benefit and teach 2-6 year old's about sun safety and proper nutrition in a fun way.
We have embarked on another calendar for our friends of Reading as we begin our journey to earn our Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. We are looking to raise funds to support the community service projects that we will be conducting in the next 6-18 months.
We wish to thank all the donors who supported this project and are mentioned throughout our calendar. Please visit them and thank them for supporting our community.
